What is a colposcope used for?

A colposcope is used to examine the cervix, vagina and external genital area under magnification. It can support the assessment of abnormal cervical screening results, observation of suspicious areas, biopsy site localization, follow-up examinations and clinical documentation. A colposcope does not replace histopathological examination or a clinician’s diagnosis.
